Purpose:
This group was formed to meet one of the objectives of the Women's
Ministry of Tabernacle. It is a Girls to Women Mentoring Program
established to help guide the young ladies of the church (ages 8-18)
in their transition from girls into mature, well rounded, spiritually
grounded women.
The four focus areas of enhanced growth
are Health and Safety, Family Life Skills, Etiquette and Social
Skills, and Spiritual Growth. The Girls to Women Mentoring Committee
and the parents of the young ladies help facilitate regular programs
and activities that will provide experience/instruction in the focus
areas. The girls actively participate in the decision making process
.
Since the group was organized in
May, 2006 the following activities/programs have taken place:
- Exercise and nutrition session
with Dr. Linda Person August 8, 2006
- Fashion Show featuring SWEET members
and other young people November 11, 2006
- Financial Workshop with Alan Dole
of Equity Concepts January 20, 2007
- Girls to Women Tea (Reverend Angel
White on "The Virtue of Chastity", and a session
on Table Etiquette) May 12, 2007
- Lock In May 27, 2007

events:
- Co-sponsor, with the Ronald McNair
Foundation, a 5K Run that will focus on children's health and
fitness, October 20, 2007
- Take a trip to New York to see
a Broadway Play,November, 2007
